O copy the passage (literally re-type it!) and provide the page number in parenthesis.

The purpose of these papers is to foster thoughtful
engagement with the day’s reading material, develop a practice of writing concise summaries, and facilitate
preparedness for class discussion. These responses will pull a particular phrase, sentence, or passage from one of
the readings of the day and analyze it. Your response should do a few things:
o Copy the passage (literally re-type it!) and provide the page number in parenthesis.
o Situate the passage within the larger context of the work as a whole.
o Analyze why this passage is of significance: how does it illuminate something about evil, suffering, and
theodicy and the tradition in question?
o Draw connections between this passage and other material you have engaged so far in the course: How does
it compare or contrast, what new ideas or complications does it introduce to our discussion of theodicy and
the historical development of addressing suffering and evil as part of the human condition?
o Your response should always conclude with a couple of questions that remain for you after finishing the
readings for the session: what is still unclear or confusing? What do you want to know more about? Etc.
the book of revelations is the one u need to copy and paste the passage from…
the new testaments is just used to compare the two articles
make sure u ask 3 questions at the end

What most interested or inspired you in learning about typology?

Disscussion Board
After reading the Power Points and notes Exodus I, II and III, create an original post of 300-600 words on the following questions
How does the use of Typology open up more understanding and interest in the Old Testament for Christians? What most interested or inspired you in learning about Typology?
Power Point I made the point that the Sinai Covenant made Israel a Theocracy.
What is your understanding of that Theocracy? Why do you think God used a Theocracy in the Old Testament as part of His plan? Why do you think the New Testament speaks more of the separation of Church and State and does not insist on a Theocracy anymore? Do you think a Christian Theocracy or any other Theocracy is a good idea in any government today? Why or Why not?

Perhaps there is something else that forms your thoughts.

EXPERIENCE WITH THEOLOGY ESSAY ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
As you start your course in the discipline of theology, keep in mind that some students may have
already formally studied the topic of theology in an academic setting whereas for others this
could be their first academic interaction with the topic. However, as has been said, everyone is a
theologian because everyone has thoughts about God. The question is whether or not a person is
a faithful theologian. How do you form your thoughts of who God is and what God does? Is it
your past experiences? The Bible? Perhaps there is something else that forms your thoughts.
These are important questions and considerations that will be explored throughout the course.
INSTRUCTIONS
For this essay, you will be asked to write a 600-word essay answering the following 3 prompts:
1. When you hear the word theology, what comes to your mind? (200 words)
2. What experience have you had in your past with the study of theology? (200 words)
3. Besides a passing grade, what do you hope to take away from this course? (200 words)
Refer to the “Course Policies” in the course syllabus for the formatting expectations in this
course.
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
