At the end of 1.2 of the play Henry IV, Part 1, Shakespeare has given us two of his most interesting characters, Prince Hal (the future Henry V) and Falstaff. At this point in the play, Falstaff must be assessed according to his responses to Hal. However, the prince has a soliloquy concluding scene 2, which allows us a deeper understanding of who he is.
