The writing assignment for this week is to read, summarize, and respond to, an article by Eric Gibson.
Gibson, Eric. “The Overexposed Museum.” New Criterion, 32(4), 19-21.
When you read the article, make sure that you note down Gibson’s main point, the evidence that he uses, and the conclusions that he comes to by the end of the article. Your task is to summarize the article. When doing this, there will be times that you feel you have to use the exact words used by Gibson. Choose these moments carefully; you do not want to overdo it. You just want to choose key phrases where you feel Gibson must speak for himself. When you use these phrases you will need to (a) incorporate them into sentences of your own, and (b) make sure that they are correctly cited within the text.
Once you have summarized Gibson, add at least one point of your own. The strongest move is to choose one of Gibson’s points and respond to it using evidence of your own.
This paper should not exceed two pages, 12-point font, double-spaced, *plus* you will need to provide works cited page (correctly formatted) in addition at the end.
The paper should be set up using the MLA format we looked at in Module One. Guides for using in-text citation and for writing style are included in this module,
